The Medvode Firefighting Association Celebrates 30 Years

On Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, the Medvode Firefighting Association celebrated its 30th anniversary.

The ceremony took place in a pleasant and festive atmosphere at the Medvode Market. Guests were welcomed by the president of the Medvode Firefighting Association, Mr. Miha Šušteršič. Inspiring and encouraging words were also shared by the mayor, Mr. Nejc Smole, the commander of the Firefighting Association of Slovenia, Mr. Zvonko Glažar, and the Minister of Defence, Mr. Borut Sajovic, MSc.

As part of the event, the Medvode Firefighting Association also presented awards.

DONIT Tesnit received recognition for its support of firefighting efforts and for many years of successful cooperation. The award was accepted on behalf of the company by Boštjan Krelj, the head of our internal firefighting unit.

Our collaboration with the Medvode Firefighting Association is excellent. Last year, we organized our first joint firefighting exercise together with the Preska–Medvode Volunteer Fire Department, simulating the spill of hazardous substances. During the drill, we also introduced DONIT Tesnit’s internal firefighting unit.

In addition to operational cooperation, we regularly support local volunteer fire departments – through donations for raffles and occasionally by co-financing the graphic design of new firefighting vehicles. These designs are created by our sister company, KIG d.d.

The Medvode Firefighting Association brings together several volunteer fire departments, including:
Preska–Medvode, Smlednik, Sora, Spodnje Pirniče–Vikrče–Zavrh, Zbilje, Žleb, Golo Brdo, Hraše, and Zgornje Pirniče.

Together, they form a strong and dedicated network of volunteers who play a vital role in ensuring the safety of the local community.
